Episode 6 - Ayurveda for pregnancy, birth and postpartum care with Dylan Smith and Laura Poole (Part 2).
Introduction to the episode.
Welcome to the second episode in our series with Dylan Smith, Ayurvedic practitioner and educator from Vital Veda.
Dylan Smith is an Ayurveda practitioner based in Sydney, who travels to give lectures and consults, he’s a researcher and writer, and someone who has devoted their entire life to serving humanity through this ancient wisdom. He studies with the world renowned Vaidyas the Raju Family, 13th generational Ayurveda doctors in India.
He’s one of the funniest, quirkiest and humblest people we know, with an inspiring Instagram feed @vitalveda, a knowledge packed podcast at ‘The Vital Veda Podcast’ and a brilliant website with in-depth researched journal posts on everything to do with Ayurveda - the science of life. .
What Dylan shares in this podcast is what we would call ‘pure Ayurveda’, where the wisdom has been passed down from teacher to student for generations, with its roots grounded in the ancient Vedic texts. It is very powerful stuff, but it can sometimes seem like there’s a lot to learn or do, so see what resonates with you, where you’re at and what is possible for you to take on board right now.
We cover a lot of this two-part episode and you are probably going to want to write a lot down. To make it easier for you we have compiled some very comprehensive show-notes to support you in your new learnings.
It’s important to know that this podcast is for all gender identities and all relationships. You will hear Dylan and Laura use the language lady, ladies, woman, women, mother, in which this case we are referring specifically to the female physiology and the one who carries the baby in their womb. And the same when we use the words man, men, father, we are referring to the male physiology, and/or the partner who plays the role of the co-creator of life. Whatever language or pronouns we use, please interpret and adapt it to your own experience, so this wisdom of Ayurveda can serve you in the most supportive way.
